Rachael Tuwhangai

Rachael Tuwhangai Lecturer, University of Auckland, Faculty of Education

Rachael Tuwhangai is a lecturer at the University of Auckland's Faculty of Education. She coordinates the Graduate Diploma of Education (ICT/Te Reo Maori) and sits on the Faculty of Education Teacher Education Programmes ICT advisory committee. She delivers graduate level classes online to Maori teacher education students across the country and is involved in Maori language Immersion ICT professional development initiatives, including working with Kura Kaupapa Maori and Wharekura (Maori immersion schools) teachers. She has recently piloted New Zealand's first Kids Educational Technologies Conference, held in the Maori language, and is looking toward organising a national conference with a similar focus in 2007. Her areas of interest lie in Indigenous education, Maori education, Maori language teaching and learning, ICT and online teaching and learning.
