Information for Presenters

Call for papers is now open. We invite you to submit a proposal for a conference session. The proposals will be examined to conform their fit with the conference theme "ACT on IcT".

We particularly welcome proposals which enable us to showcase the use of technologies in action in the classroom and proposals in relation to policy and vision in the use of ICT in learning and teaching. We also welcome submissions from potential delegates from outside of Australia. We want to learn from your successes and share in questioning the issues and setting agendas.

Speakers and authors will be asked to nominate which of the following conference stream(s) suit the intent of their paper or presentations:

  • E-learning including information literacy, Web 2.0 and school libraries
  • Innovation, including the emergence of digital libraries
  • Leadership and management
  • ICT in curriculum and pedagogical transformation
  • ICT in Action
  • Policy in ICT
  • Information management
  • Networking Systems
  • IT/Computing Studies

The Conference is offering speakers a range of presentation types:

  • Fully-refereed papers
  • Non-refereed papers
  • Workshops
  • Symposia or panels
  • Poster sessions

All papers for all conference session types are due on February 29, 2008 except proposals for poster sessions which are due on March 31, 2008. However, any pre-conference workshop submissions must be entered by January 14, 2008. Please contact Rae-Maree Powell to discuss your offer of a pre-conference workshop, as your arrangements will need to be negotiated individually. There are limited places for pre-conference workshops.

Communicating with Presenters

All communication will be with the first presenter who will be then responsible for communicating with co-presenters if there are any.


The conference organisers will provide a PC laptop for each presentation room, projector and audio option in each presentation room. There are PC and Macintosh Labs of 16-20 machines available for computer workshops. All supplied computers will have a high speed broadband connection. The conference is wireless everywhere for the convenience of presenters and attendees. Presenters are encouraged to bring their own machine for use in presentations. Presenters with need to take responsibility for ensuring the conference team understand any special software needs well in advance. Presenters will also have to take responsibility for organising and securing special equipment for their conference participation.

Speakers preparation

Speakers may want to test equipment, internet access and connection to display devices before your presentation. There will be periodic speakers briefings before and during the conference and there is a speakers preparation room available to use throughout the conference.

Speakers discount

If you are not a trader or sponsor, you are entitled to the speakers rate equivalent of early bird registration. We expect all speakers to register by July 31, 2008 to confirm their program slot.

Length of Sessions

All sessions will be 45 minutes in length including poster sessions where four presentations will occur simultaneously.

You will need to register your details first. You will be asked to supply details about you and your presentation before you upload the paper itself. You can return to change or complete your submission at any time.
