One Year Out Party

ACEC 2006 Planning Meeting - One Year Out

It's a working party, but we will have some fun.

On Saturday October 1, 2005, the ACEC 2006 Conference teams will host a working conference to plan major strategic components of the conference. This weekend is one-year out from the main event, and is a major milestone  in the organisation.

The key purposes of the full day meeting are:

For conference teams to use the time to work together on major tasks and with other teams. For example the technical teams and promotions teams need time to work with each committee.

To enable stakeholders in the conference to provide input into program design, pre-conference workshops designs, strategic forums and other conference events.

Specific tasks will include:

To finalise the Call for Papers and pre-conference workshops

Setting up a  process to handle speakers, especially their technical requirements

To include meeting attendees in the promotional campaign

To update the public web site and the conference management website.

To finalise the refereeing process and selection processes for non-refereed papers/sessions

Tasks committees have identified for action on that day

You may organize your own accommodation. We recommend the Acacia Court Hotel which has a $80 room rate for singles and doubles, though often you can do good deals at other hotels on and other online booking services. Acacia Court, on the Cairns' Esplanade, is a 5-10 minute walk to town and is a 4 star hotel. Acacia Court is a 15 minute drive from the city to the meeting place at Woree. Some local volunteers can do pickups and drop offs if required.
