Simon Hackett has been involved with the Internet in Australia since 'before it was trendy'.
Simon graduated from Adelaide University in 1986. While subsequently working at the university, he helped to build AARNet - the Australian Research and Educational version of the Internet, predating the Australian commercial Internet - in the late '80s.
Simon was a cofounder of the Internet Society of Australia, is the founding president of the South Australian Internet Association, a Member of the Australian Computer Society, and generally tries hard to leave the Australian Internet landscape a little better off for his involvement in it.
In 1991, Simon founded Internode (http://www.internode.on.net), a privately held ISP that continues to grow rapidly. In 1997 he founded Agile Communications (http://www.agile.com.au), a licensed telecommunications carrier that builds broadband network infrastructure. He is still the CEO of both, and they both continue to do great things.
